If you're reading this then you're probably needing some inspiration for the perfect location for your upcoming photoshoot. To help out, I've compiled a list of my favorite spots to go for portrait sessions! I love parks across the city that show off the beautiful nature from our state and add a good ole' Colorado feel to your pictures. Have fun browsing through the locations listed below, share them with your family or significant other, and I hope you find the one that will suit your vision. If you still can't decide, don't worry, I got you! I have so much experience shooting at each of these spots and will help you pick one based on your goals for the session.
Fox Run Park
Fox Run Park is on the north side of town in Black Forest. It's one of my go-to spots with a ton of pine trees, a few aspen trees, a small lake bordered by a gravel pathway, and it's also gorgeous in EVERY season!
Ute Valley Park
Ute Valley Park is located on the west side of town in the Rockrimmon area. Here you'll find rolling hills, greenery, and a wooden walkway that gives your photos a really cool, rustic look. This park is still pretty in the fall and winter months!
Red Rock Canyon Open Space
Located near Old Colorado City, another gorgeous spot in any season! Great mountain views, greenery, yellow leaves in fall, and the red rocks look really great when covered in snow, too. Some people don't like red in their photos, so just keep that in mind when considering this one.
The Paint Mines
The paint mines is an amazing spot in Calhan that creates a super unique look to your photos. It's bright, great for any season, and we will have a lot of fun exploring this area during our session!
Monument Valley Park
This park near downtown Colorado Springs is a FAVORITE in the fall. The huge trees (no aspens) turn so yellow and cover the ground below, it's truly gorgeous. I Don't prefer shooting here in the winter because all of the green is dead, and it doesn't look as lively!
Bear Creek Regional Park
Bear Creek Regional is a great spot in the warmer months! I love the tall green and wheat-colored grass, and the blossoming trees in the spring.
Garden of the Gods - High Point
Ah, High Point Overlook, a BEAUTIFUL spot! If you're looking to really show off a unique state landmark with some perfect mountain views, you'll love this one! It does tend to get crowded (especially in the summer), so I usually like shooting here just before and after sunset as it clears out more.
Garden of the Gods - Siamese Twins
This spot has gorgeous views of the mountains, and is one of my favorites! To get to the Siamese Twins landmark, it's about a 1/4 mile easy hike. Totally worth it!
This area is located in downtown Colorado Springs directly in front of the Antler's Hotel, next to the Wells Fargo Tower. I love this smaller area for senior portraits, or couples sessions too! I would say there's not much variety for a family session, but we could always explore downtown for more location options afterwards.
Old Colorado City
If you're looking for a more 'urban' feel, Old Colorado City is perfect! We can meet at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, then walk around the block to find all the cute nooks and crannies located down there. Great for any kind of session, any time of year!
The Mining Exchange
The Mining Exchange is a hotel located in downtown Colorado Springs, and I love using their alleyway and courtyard for photos. It's best to go in the morning when there are no other events taking place, because otherwise the courtyard is very busy. This location has an urban, classy, old-fashioned feel!
